M1 Garand and Carbine Club, M1 Collectors Club, BIRTH OF THE M1 CARBINE. Studler, Chief of the Small Arms Development Branch of the Office, Chief of Ordinance was one of the driving forces behind the carbine. Its an Inland Div. I have read that Inland Div. Serial numbers for M1A1 were (very low numbers which I don't have) and serial numbers starting at 5,000,000 to 6,250,000. I have also found that Inland made guns with serial numbers starting at 4,879,526 to 5,549,921.

Inland M1 Carbine Paratrooper Serial Numbers
How do I verify the age of my M1 Carbine? It belonged to my friends father who passed. He isn't into firearms so I bought it from him. Its in great condition, no rust, stock looks great (wood). I just don't know anything about this rifle. I you tubed how to disassemble it and gave it a full clean and lube. Its in great condition. My main concern is the age, I want to see what I fell into, and see if I would sell it or keep it. Is there a way to tell by the serial number or something?
ETA: I was doing a little reading... It doesn't have the push button safety, it has a little lever you pull down and a bayo lug. All Parts seem to be original, considering the fact that everything seems to be 'equally worn/ equally old looking'
Thanks,
Dan
